The Burneek Difference
-
60–90 Minute Assembly
Every stave and panel arrives pre-cut in one crate. Two or three people assemble the Basalt in about an hour with basic hand tools — no carpentry, no contractor, no build-out. Your electrician handles one 240V connection and you're done.
-
Real Stone-Stove Steam
A genuine Harvia® stove heats 44 lbs of volcanic stones, and you pour water over them for löyly — the surge of humid heat at the heart of the Finnish sauna ritual. Run it bone-dry or steam it up; the ladle is in the box.
-
208°F in 30 Minutes
Tested In our 30-minute factory test, the smallest stove in the lineup drove the barrel to 208°F — and it was still climbing when the clock stopped. The 6kW and 8kW stoves climb faster. Real Finnish-style heat, fast.
-
Tinted Privacy Glass + Ambient LED
The black-tinted 8mm tempered door keeps your session yours — from outside, the Basalt is a sealed black monolith; from inside, warm hemlock lit by a color-selectable LED strip behind the backrest.
-
Built for Outdoors, Every Season
Waterproof black coating, black shingle roof protection, twin air vents and a raised slatted floor. Rain, snow, sun — the Basalt is engineered to live outside year-round and heat through winter.
-
Premium Materials & Safety
38mm solid Canadian hemlock, stainless steel bands, 8mm tempered glass, a heat-rated waterproof cabin light and a genuine Harvia® stove with built-in overheat protection — quality components chosen for years of outdoor use.

FAQs
What is the Burneek Basalt?
The Burneek Basalt is a traditional outdoor barrel sauna built from 38mm solid Canadian hemlock with an all-black waterproof exterior, a black-tinted tempered glass door, and a genuine Harvia® electric stove with 44 lbs of volcanic stones.
It's designed to give you real Finnish-style heat and steam in your backyard, assembled in about an hour.
How is the Basalt shipped?
The Basalt ships in one custom wooden crate with every component secured for transit — sauna kit, stove, stones and accessories together.
Orders ship via freight with curbside delivery, free in the contiguous US. You'll receive tracking by email when your crate leaves the warehouse, and the carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment.
How is the Basalt different from an infrared sauna?
They're two different experiences. The Basalt is a traditional hot-stone sauna: the air itself gets hot — 208°F in our 30-minute test — and you can pour water over the stones for steam.
Infrared saunas like our Onyxeek line warm your body directly at lower air temperatures with integrated red light therapy. Many people love both; if you want the classic high-heat, steam-on-the-rocks ritual, that's the Basalt.
What makes the Basalt different from other barrel saunas?
A few things you rarely see together: a genuine Harvia® stove included in the price (most brands sell the heater as a $899–$1,949 add-on), 38mm walls where many use 19–28mm, a black-tinted privacy glass door, a color-selectable LED backlight, twin air vents, and 60–90 minute assembly.
All in, at a price below comparable barrels.
What are the benefits of traditional sauna heat?
People use the Basalt to unwind, sweat deeply, warm up after cold plunges or training, and build a consistent recovery ritual at home. Sauna bathing has been part of Finnish culture for centuries.
While many users report feeling more relaxed and refreshed, the Basalt is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any health condition.
Is traditional sauna use safe?
Sauna bathing is a long-established wellness practice for typical healthy adults when used as directed. As with any heat-based routine, if you are pregnant, have cardiovascular issues, are sensitive to heat, or take medications that affect heat tolerance, talk with your healthcare provider before using the Basalt.
What is the maximum temperature of the Basalt?
Our 30-minute factory test reached 208°F with the smallest stove in the lineup — and the temperature was still climbing when the test ended.
The 6kW and 8kW stoves climb faster. Final temperature depends on your thermostat setting and outdoor conditions.
How quickly does it heat up?
About 30 minutes to 208°F in our factory test. Expect somewhat longer warm-ups in deep winter — turn the stove on, prep your towel and water, and it's ready when you are.
Can I pour water on the stones?
Yes — that's löyly, the point of a real stone-stove sauna. Use clean water and pour with the included ladle (small pours work best; the stones flash the water into steam instantly). 44 lbs of stones and the bucket & ladle are included.
How long should I stay in?
Traditional sauna heat is more intense than infrared, so start with 10–15 minute sessions and work up as your body adapts. Step out whenever you feel light-headed or too hot, cool down, hydrate, and go again if it feels good. Many sauna traditions use 2–3 rounds with cool-downs between.
How often can I use it?
Many owners sauna several times a week; some daily. A common rhythm is 3–5 sessions per week. Frequency is personal — build up gradually and let your body decide.
Do I need an electrician?
Yes, one visit. The Harvia stove hardwires to a dedicated 240V circuit through a splash-proof junction box — the same requirement as every real electric sauna.
The interior lighting is simple 12V plug-in. After that single connection, the Basalt is yours for good.
What surface does it need?
Any level, load-bearing surface: a concrete pad, pavers, a reinforced deck, or compacted gravel — not bare soil or grass. The two support cradles distribute the weight.
How hard is assembly?
60–90 minutes with 2–3 people and basic hand tools. Everything arrives pre-cut — stack the staves, tension the bands, set the door panel, mount the stove rack. A step-by-step guide is included.
Does the Basalt have ventilation?
Yes — an intake vent below the stove and an exhaust vent above the door keep fresh air cycling through the barrel the way traditional Finnish sauna design specifies.
Can it be used in winter?
That's when it's best. The 38mm walls and heat-efficient barrel geometry hold temperature even in serious cold. In extreme conditions expect a longer warm-up — then step from the snow into 200°F.
What maintenance does it need?
Refresh the exterior waterproof coating roughly once a year depending on your rain, snow and sun — an afternoon with a brush.
Rinse the interior down periodically, wash the benches with sauna detergent every few months, and re-stack the stones about once a year. That's it.
What warranty does the Basalt include?
Every Basalt is backed by a 2-year structural warranty — barrel body, staves, bands, benches, door and hardware against manufacturing defects — plus a 1-year warranty on the Harvia® heater, both from the date of delivery.
Not covered: normal weathering, damage from skipping the annual exterior recoat, or electrical work outside the specified requirements.
Can I use the Basalt if I have health conditions?
If you have any medical condition, are pregnant, have cardiovascular issues, recent injuries, or take medications that affect blood pressure or heat tolerance, talk with your doctor before using the Basalt. Sauna sessions are a wellness tool, not a replacement for medical care.
When will my Basalt ship?
The Basalt is on pre-order. Your estimated shipping window is shown on this page and confirmed at checkout, and you can cancel any time before your order ships.
